I do question it's stability as far as a possibility of splitting in two from todays top picture. The tree base seems fragile with all that side weight.
Glad to see it nearing an end. Have a place to display it yet?

It's a lot stronger than it looks. I've had people say that before from looking at the photos, but very few people that actually see it and touch it ever mention that.
I'm not worried at all about it slitting in half, the key is how it's lifted and moved. Maple gets tougher to split when it dries, and it's a fraction of the 6000 lbs. it weighed when it was wet.
I haven't looked for a place to store it yet because I spend most of my spare time in the burl shack. I'll be looking around pretty soon though, I do have ideas, a lot have come from people stopping in.

My dad looked at this site and drooled but he was looking at the slabbed out value...HA. Not something you want to hear, but either way you slice it (or don't) the value is fabulous.
